Our commitment to mediators

We are dedicated to creating a community of mediators who embody the highest ethical standards in their practice. We firmly believe in the transformative impact of teamwork and the free exchange of knowledge among our panel mediators. Thus, we are fully devoted to providing support and conducting ongoing training sessions (free and paid) to enhance their proficiency in mediation. Our ultimate objective is to elevate and empower mediators, equipping them with the essential skills and expertise to excel in their roles. Our platform is and always will be free for all mediators.

Our commitment to the public

As an industry that takes self-regulation seriously, we are fully aware of our social responsibility towards the general public. Our mission is to bring attention to mediation, its advantages, and people’s entitlements during mediation. We are dedicated to enlightening the public about the significance of mediation in resolving conflicts and its potential to promote improved communication and harmony among parties.

Our commitment to ethical and trauma-informed dignified mediation

We offer regular training and expect all our panel mediators to subscribe to our code of ethics. Our training includes various skillsets that could be used by mediators to serve their clients in a dignified manner. We believe in the importance of ethical and trauma-informed practices in mediation, and we strive to ensure that these principles are at the forefront of our services. Above all, we are dedicated to creating a safe and dignified environment for all parties involved in the mediation process.

Our strategic approach in our commitments

Ethical mediation: We are committed to upholding the ethics of mediation. Our community of mediators is bound by a shared commitment to integrity, neutrality, and confidentiality, ensuring that mediation remains a trusted and effective conflict resolution method.

■ Collaboration and information sharing: We believe in the power of collaboration and information sharing. To add value to our panel of mediators, we actively encourage a culture of collaboration, where mediators can share experiences, insights, best practices and documents used during mediation such as mediation agreements, settlement agreements etc. By fostering an environment of mutual support, we aim to enhance the effectiveness of mediation services.

■ Assistance and support: DDR is dedicated to offering assistance and support to our mediators. Whether it’s addressing complex cases, providing resources, or offering guidance, we are committed to being a reliable partner on their professional journey.

■ Referral network: In addition to collaboration within our community, DDR has established a robust referral network among our panel of mediators. This network is designed to facilitate the exchange of cases and opportunities among our mediators, creating a symbiotic relationship where everyone benefits.

■ Case referrals: When a mediator within our network receives a case that may better suit the expertise or specialization of another mediator, they have the option to refer the case to a colleague in the network.

■ Opportunity sharing: Beyond cases, our referral network extends to various professional opportunities, such as speaking engagements, training programs, and research projects. Mediators can share and refer these opportunities to their peers, fostering a collaborative and supportive community. Mediators wishing to record short videos for publication, blogs or wanting to do presentations are welcomed.

■ Regular upskill training programs: Recognizing the dynamic nature of mediation, DDR aims to provide regular training sessions to uplift and upskill mediators. Please note that we are not offering training for new mediators, but will happily assist with supplying contact details of training institutions that we find reputable. Our inhouse-training programs cover various aspects of mediation, including conflict resolution techniques, effective communication strategies, and updates on relevant legal frameworks. By investing in continuous learning, we empower our mediators to deliver exceptional services to their clients.

■ Social responsibility: We recognize the importance of mediation services in contributing to a just and peaceful society. Our organization takes pride in its social responsibility to promote mediation as a viable and constructive means of conflict resolution.

■ Awareness campaigns: DDR actively engages in awareness campaigns to educate the public about the advantages of mediation. Through various channels, we aim to demystify the mediation process, making it more accessible and widely understood.

■ Rights education: We are committed to ensuring that individuals understand their rights when participating in mediation. By providing information and resources, we empower the public to make informed decisions and actively participate in the resolution of their conflicts.

■ Code of ethics: We require all our panel mediators to subscribe to our comprehensive Code of Ethics. This code serves as a guiding framework, emphasizing principles such as impartiality, confidentiality, and respect for the dignity of all parties involved.

■ Regular training on ethical practices: Our commitment to ethical mediation is reinforced through regular training programs. These sessions focus on ethical decision-making, cultural sensitivity, and trauma-informed practices, ensuring that our mediators are well-equipped to handle diverse and complex cases.

■ Dignified mediation skillsets: Our training goes beyond the technical aspects of mediation, encompassing skillsets that promote dignity in the process. Mediators are equipped with tools to create a safe and respectful environment, fostering open communication and ensuring that participants feel heard and valued.
